INSTRUCTIONS

How It Works

1. SUBMIT ADDRESS AND GET MAIL!

Choose to participate and submit your address here. You will receive by snail mail a package from This Is Not A Postcard, that contains an envelope with a postcard and this set of instructions. Every postcard has a different line at the front written by me, so they are all unique. They start with ‘This is not a postcard but…” and end with something like this:

2. REGISTER YOUR LOG

Get your package. Write the time and place you opened this postcard in the log at the back of it. You can add your name, a comment, phrase, or word you want to share with others in the ‘Note’ line. If you wish to intervene in the postcard, you can get creative with it. The back of the postcard looks like this:

3. ATTACH A MEMORY

Attach a memory to the envelope: either write, draw, or put an object inside (pictures, flowers, tickets, scraps, anything you like). The envelope should carry all objects from the first person to the last, creating a collection of memories from 5 different people.

4. SEND IT

Put the envelope in a package and send it to another person around the world by post. It can be whoever you like: friends, artists, family, lovers, strangers. We recommend someone that you know will keep the mail chain alive. Remember to include inside the log, the objects, and the instruction sheet.

If you are the last person in the log (completing the chain),  return the package with all its contents to the following address:

Maria Jose Casazza

Enriquez 32 Despacho 127

Xalapa Centro (Veracruz)

91000

Mexico

5. SHARE

If you want to share what you received you can post it on the website's forum page or use the hashtag #thisisnotapostcard tagging the project's account on Instagram.
